ANWR Drilling HALTED! Democrats have a pretty darn good day!

Huffington Post puts it best.

I'm fond of whoever writes their headlines. Here's the link to the NY Times article about yesterday's Congressional action. And here is the link to Huffington Post's front page because I like them. A lot.

The Patriot Act was NOT truly renewed despite the Bush Administration's press conference blitz but extended for six months. Wow, common sense seems to have something to do with that. Don't renew it permanently, give us time to work out our problems with it. It was passed in the panicky heated times directly after 9/11 and now IS NOT LIKE THAT ANYMORE, despite the Bush Administration's efforts to scare the shit out of us. So WOO-HOO!

But lastly, BOOOO!!! Vice President Cheney came in to break a tie in the Senate on a Budget Cut program which cuts the budget for "ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS" like Medicare, Medicaid, pension programs, AND STUDENT FUCKING LOANS!

So my stickers saying "During Winter Break: YOU CUT STUDENT LOANS" can still go through.

These are the things that we are ENTITLED to. ENTITLED with that "silver spoon" connotation that's built into most Republican legislation. But I suppose, thanks to Cheney and most REPUBLICANS, these are the things that we are or are not ENTITLED to.

  • We are NOT ENTITLED to health care.

  • Are PARENTS are NOT ENTITLED to health care when they retire

  • We are NOT ENTITLED to student loans to help paid for college

  • We ARE ENTITLED to working 3 SERVICE INDUSTRY jobs WHILE A FULL-TIME STUDENT

  • We ARE ENTILED to a HUGE BILL from the Federal Government when we are born that only INCREASES as we try to live

  • And yes, I believe that it is OUR FAULT for letting this happen by not knowing what's going on, by not calling our Senators and Representatives to voice our opinions, by not SCREAMING in agreement or disagreement when legislation that fucks with our lives or ideals appears. It is OUR FAULT. And my GOD, that has to change.
